About us

Toscana SUP was born from the passion that Tommaso (the founder) has for the sea and the discipline of surfing and stand up paddling. At the beginning, he guided some tours along the secret corners of the Etruscan Coast just for fun.
But when everyone returned craving for another adventure full of joy and enthusiasm, he decided to continue and expand his tours.

Back then, this discipline was mostly unknown in Italy, especially for those who didn’t live by the seaside!
So could you imagine the amazement of the locals the first time they saw him start to paddle under Ponte Vecchio in the city center of Florence. What an amazing adventure!

Year after year, this discipline started to be more and more popular and Toscana SUP became an institution in Tuscany and in Italy.
Lessons, tours, camps around the sea, rivers and lakes. Flat water, white water or waves!
Everybody can enjoy the various experiences as he or she pleases.

OUR STAFF

Toscana SUP is an official surf and sup school, certified by the International Surfing Association (ISA) and the Italian federation (FISW inserire link), made up of skilled professionals with multidisciplinary skills also to ensure the safe practice of SUP.

All our guides are professional SUP coaches with lifeguard and sup coach license. On the other side, its staff is also a big family where every member respects each other and loves their job.

TOMMASO

Graduated in Political Science, Ph.D in ICT, lifeguard, since 2012 certified SUP and SURF L2 coach by International Surfing Association (ISA), Founder of Toscanasup to bring the aloha spirit in Florence and Tuscany, he knows every corner of his region: land, sea, rivers and lakes. Founder of Uffizi Sup Race, organizer of Florence Paddle Games. AS surf coach is member of the technical staff of national adaptive surf team of Italy, with participations to the World Adaptive Surfing Championship in S. Diego and the European Championship in Portugal. He regularly organizes surf and SUP camps, since 2015 he also organizes Adaptive Surf Camp within the project Surf 4 All.

BRUNO

Bruno, 22 year old Italian-Thai hybrid born and raised in Italy. For 12 years a professional kayak athlete, which saw him win several Italian titles despite his young age. Qualified basic technician was an instructor of the Florentine youth sector. He approached SUP thanks to his brother Phanu and together they teach both kayaking and SUP to children, adults and people with disabilities.

ELENA

Elena is a cheerful and energetic young woman. She studies Psychology at the University of Pisa and has a deep passion for everything that stimulates both the mind and the body. Among her main interests is sports, and it was this passion that led her, a couple of years ago, to discover — and fall in love with — SUP! Naturally curious and always ready to challenge herself, Elena loves exploring new experiences and learning something new every day.

FRANCESCO

Francesco, 20 years old, was born in Barga and lives in Borgo a Mozzano. He is an aspiring energy engineer. Sports have always been at the center of his life — from football and volleyball to running. In recent years, he has grown interested in the world of SUP, taking part in a “Rescue SUP” course with great enthusiasm, eager to expand his athletic and cultural horizons.

SOFIA

Sofia, 23 years old and proudly from Garfagnana, is a certified swimming instructor with an F.I.N. license. She has also earned her River Rescue certification. Water has always been her natural element — whether in a pool, a river, or the sea — and as an outdoor enthusiast, it was only natural for her to discover the world of SUP!

GINEVRA

Ginevra, a sports and nature enthusiast, is a student of Natural and Environmental Sciences. In her free time, she plays volleyball. She became interested in the world of SUP through the Canyon Park Adventure Park, and after completing a two-day river rescue training course, she went on to earn her SUP instructor certification.

COSIMO

Cosimo was a competitive canoe athlete for seven years. He holds a first-level SUP instructor certification as well as a Surf Adaptive instructor license. He discovered SUP thanks to his friends and the local rowing club, and it quickly became one of his greatest passions.

ALICE

Sunny and sociable person, I love being around people and collaborating in teams. Due to my limited inclination toward physical activity, my natural habitat is more my checkout chair (on dry land) than in the water…

DAVIDE

Davide, born in 1989 in Milan, earned his degree in Environmental Sciences. Ten years ago, he left the city behind and moved to Tuscany, where he completed a course to become an Environmental Hiking Guide and worked in that field for several years. In 2021, he discovered Stand Up Paddle in the Val di Lima thanks to the Toscana SUP group, which introduced him to the discipline and its exploratory dimension closely connected to the river environment.

DANIELA

Daniela is a researcher in the environmental economics field and a passionate lover of the sea, nature, and board sports. A former artistic gymnastics instructor, she developed a strong interest in surfing and SUP. She enjoys combining her research work with environmental education projects and initiatives that promote the value of aquatic ecosystems. She has also earned her River Rescue certification.

DUCCIO

Duccio Becheroni is an adventurer and nature lover who experiences movement as a form of discovery and connection with the environment. He practices and promotes inclusive outdoor disciplines, collaborating with Toscana Sup. He is among the founders of Slackline Toscana, an organization dedicated to spreading balance and the arts of movement.

JACOPO

Environmental hiking guide since 2010, a lifeguard since 2013. Supported by his Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture, leads enthusiasts wherever there is a beautiful landscape to interpret and in any “green” means of transport (SUP, feet or bicycle) in order to sustainably promote the local heritage of the area.

PHANU

Born in Thailand and raised in Italy. Ifor 15 years a professional athlete of kayak, licensed instructor and coach of the professional florentine team. In recent years approached SUP and competed as well in this specialty. Moreover, after years of SUP licensed as a SUP instructor as well. Nowadays I teach kayak and SUP to both adults, kids and persons with disabilities.

MARTINO

27 times Italian Champion in Wild Water and Flat Water canoe between 2004 to 2013, competing in World and European Championships part of the Italian team. He started SUP in 2013 and from the beginnig he wins SUP races in different countries as GlaGla Race in France, Dunkerbeck Challenge in Spain, Eilat Sup Tour in Israel (2018). In 2015 Italian Sup Champion. From 2016 to 2019 he participated to the cruelest race of sup panorama, the 11 City Tour, three times on the third place. 2019, 3rd at ICF World Championship Inflatable. In 2017 7h place at first ISA World Championships representing Italy.

RACHELE

Twenty years old, Rachele is a student of business administration and communication techniques, since two years she is part of Toscanasup in the administration area, welcoming customers and giving them information.

ENRICA

Professional photographer, teacher and sailor. She divides her time between the mainland and the sea that she loves to experience sailing but also exploring it in freediving thanks to the licence obtained in 2017 at the Apnea Academy in Florence.
She recently discovered the world of surfing and sup that she started to join and photograph with a new enthusiasm and passion.

FLORENCE PADDLE GAMES

Visit Florence for The Florence Paddle Games. An intense three days of paddling, packed full of races and SUP activities. The city become the capital of the SUP for three days, welcoming the best athletes in the world and hundreds of enthusiasts

SURF 4 ALL PROJECT

Surf 4 ALL is a project to promote Adaptive Surf and SUP, a school for everyone, with qualified staff and innovative equipment adaptable to different types of disabilities. The SURF 4 ALL school is located at the Bagno degli Americani in Tirrenia, 15 minutes from Pisa. The SURF 4 ALL athletes Lorenzo Bini, Massimiliano Mattei, Chantal Pistelli, Matteo Salandri and the coach Tommaso Pucci are permanently part of the ITALY ADAPTIVE SURFING team which since 2016 participates in the World Championships in La Jolla, San Diego, California. https://youtu.be/Qz-JhugXK0o

PLASTIC PATROL

Was set up in 2016 and we have already made great strides to remove litter from over 80 countries around the world. We combine community action with disruptive technology to gather important data for scientific research into waste that escapes into nature. With your help we can continue our mission to stop pollution at the source.
