Paddle along the Etruscan coast exploring the bay of Baratti, to the enchant of Buca delle Fate and Cala San Quirico. Along the way you'll enjoy the fantastic view of the Populonia Castle from the sea.
The view is extraordinary: the crystal-clear sea with its various shades of blue that contrast with the clear rocks of the cliff, the green of the Mediterranean scrub and the silhouette of the Isola d’Elba in the distance. Despite the fact that Buca delle Fate is reachable on foot, arriving by sea has a very different charm: you can explore every cove, examine every rock, and it is common to find yourself paddling over shoals of fish. The excursion is beautiful throughout the year and visiting is appealing even when the season isn’t truly “swimming weather,” particularly because there are few crowds. In any case, as there are no equipped facilities along the route, we recommend that you bring things to eat and drink for the journey.
What To Bring:
Use of top-class gear,
Professional SUP coach
Drinking water and snacks
In Baratti and Populonia, along one of the most evocative stretches of the Etruscan Coast, there exist incredibly important artefacts from the Etruscan and Roman eras. In the Archeological Park, which extends for around 80 hectares and is visible from some parts of the network of equipped trails, visitors connect with history and archeology against the backdrop of an immensely evocative landscape. The medieval village of Populonia, surrounded by walls built to protect the town from pirates and dominated over by the Fortress, dating to the first half of the 15th century.
The itinerary is around 3km long, is not particularly demanding and is suitable for more or less everyone. The route is characterised by high, rocky coasts, with cliffs that drop as much as 50 metres in some points. Location famous throughout Europe for its naturalistic landscape, for the millenary history of its Etruscan story and for the beauty of its waters.
The tour includes paddling south to Buca delle Fate, a small natural gulf of rare beauty, passing along the cliff of the promontory of Populonia to discover its unique coves. Recommended place for snorkeling and diving.
